The Producers
West Yorkshire Playhouse
9 – 16 May 2009
Following their highly acclaimed 2008 production of Sweeney Todd, LAOS returned to the Playhouse to proudly present The Producers from 9 to 16 May 2009. The musical follows an out of favour producer and his accountant as they aim to stage a Broadway flop. On discovering they can make more money from a flop than a success they search for the worst stage play they can find. Their get rich quick scheme becomes complicated when the show turns out to be a hit.

Adapted from Mel Brooks’ 1968 film this hilarious comedy musical opened on Broadway in 2001 and has since won 12 Tony Awards. With a three year run on the West End it has proved to be a crowd favourite. With songs including ‘Springtime for Hitler’ and ‘I wanna be a producer’ it was a huge hit with LAOS audiences and received great reviews.
